Last week Emily and I spent some time thinking about what “returning” might feel like in our sewing practice.

I decided to start looking through my patterns and had a realisation, that you might share?

Countless digital downloads hidden in plain sight somewhere in my computer, not taking up physical space and yet quietly accumulating.

Vintage paper patterns showing snapshots of another time. Big sleeves, interesting collars, unusual seam lines. Some from my Mum’s stash. Even if I never sew many of them, I love pulling them out and studying them.

Sewing books that peak my interest, like Birgitta Helmersson’s Zero Waste Patterns, and my growing collection of Japanese sewing books bought each time I visit Tokyo, full of patterns I fully intend to make… one day.
