Thank you Jen! I sometimes worry it will bore people, so it's validating to hear you enjoy this other side of things, as I really do enjoy writing about things outside of sewing.
I hope you will enjoy some free and loving 'Mum' advice from the perspective of a woman who now has mature and grown children and grand children...
Being a mother is one of the most important things you can do. If you listen to your inner knowing you will succeed. It's hard work and incredibly satisfying. It makes you strive and grow in ways you would never do for just yourself.
Everyone is uncertain, whatever age they have a child and lack of restful sleep is a conjunct to anxiety.
Most importantly, take time for yourself Emily. Fill your cup first. You cant do much if you are empty. Then and only then, can you support your family needs. This is not a selfish thing, it is the best way to fully love your family and be effective.
I also offer a way to think about pregnancy - You are like a jar of marbles and you know the colours and sizes of them within you. Then a new soul/being drops all of their marbles into your container and the marbles all get mixed in together. After a period of time, some get taken out again and what was your combination is muddled and in a totally different order. It takes time to sort out what will be useful to you for your new journey.
Much love to your world, your littles and your beautiful man too.
I will take all the free and loving Mum advice I can get. Thank you Robbie!
All so true. I am so proud of how much I have grown since having my daughter. Learning to say no and protect my boundaries for the sake of our little family has been a big and important learning curve.
The marble analogy is perfect and I will keep it mind as I grow and then meet this little person.
That’s fantastic news Emily- congratulations! I kept a journal through my pregnancies and early child rearing years. (In the rare moments when I had time and a clear head)
It has been a joy to share pages of that with my daughter going through the same stages with her little one.
Thank you Sue! What a beautiful gift to be able to share with your daughter. Maybe I should stop writing in random notebooks so that I can actually find it in 30 years. Hah!
Lovely news Emily, may the calmness and confidence guide you through those roller-coaster days!
Thank you Caroline! I really hope the calmness and confidence sticks around... at least some of the time!
Congratulations
Thank you Morag!
I love reading about this side of you and I've always felt it.
